Edward Emberton update

My dear friends and co-workers,

I was hoping that this day wouldn’t come, but unfortunately it seems to be time for me to step back from active service here in BC. I have valued the chance to spend some time here, and for the healing that it has brought after being rejected in England for advocating for a victim of CSA. Although it wasn’t known at the time, a lot of healing took place during my first year on the staff here, and I shall always be grateful for that.

Lately, my health has suffered as a result of the circumstances we find ourselves in. I’ve been grateful for some time away from front-line service, and feel better for it – I’ve been able to increase from two afternoons of work per week to four days, and no longer need a CPAP machine. However it is clear that these improvements would soon be lost if I were to return to active service in the current climate. I would have loved to be part of a team whose priority were the care of the lambs and the sheep, and especially the wounded, but that doesn’t seem possible at this time. I’m glad of the example of our Shepherd who bowed down and washed the feet of his disciples when he could have demanded praise and worship during the last days of his life. What an example!

I intend to remain in BC for the immediate future, and look forward to spending more time with those who have become friends to me.

Yours in His care,

Edward Emberton

  1. Thank you, Edward, for your honest letter. I wish more workers would take the same type of courageous stand.

  2. ummmmm… I read that you were supporting a victim of CSA. If that is true, I certainly support you and am sorry that you do not find the culture of the BC staff supportive.😥. That is so so so sad. And I believe it must be bad for Judy to leave. But maybe things are happening as they need to happen. I do not know you, but I know Judy quite well… I was her companion in 1992… can’t believe it’s THAT long ago.

All of the best to you in your healing…

  3. I am terribly sorry for my post yesterday.

I misunderstood that you, Edward, were advocating for victims, not fighting for predators. Thank you, for your efforts, and again I sincerely apologize.

      1. Thank you, you are very kind.

If you ever are visiting around down here in Washington, we would enjoy a visit :-) We do have a guest room, for those who we invite.

We are trying to figure out the best way to help victims and to have a safer fellowship, without predators ever getting allowed back, maybe you can give us some insight.

  4. Hello friends, and workers

I am very disappointed to see only a few responses here .Edward was in the work, because of the current toxic environment, he being honest and upright couldn’t stay.

I applaud him, and Judy and others whose conscience bothered them so much, (and how could it not) that they felt compelled to leave.

I feel that the love that impelled them to go in the Ministry, is the same love that compelled them to leave.

They are standing on Gods side against the horrendous acts of child sexual abuse and other abuses, the coverup, and the ongoing unconcerned attitude of many overseers, workers and friends.

The lack of communication, the business as usual attitude is unbelievable and unacceptable.

I can only imagine how difficult it is to stand up to corrupt leadership, but to be on Gods side, it must be done.

Some of you who have preached about the Good Samaritan, how is it that you can see abused children in the ditch and turn and walk on the other side of the road? Maybe you don’t realize that is what you are doing. where is the love, the care?

We are taught so much about love from our Master, it is even a commandment. How is it that there are those who are unconcerned about keeping that? It kinda boggles my mind. Does the fact that children have been abused , the vulnerable and downtrodden have been neglected bother you?

Why am I saying this? Because I am your friend, and I have loved you and you have broken my heart, and the hearts of many.

You have broken Gods heart, Jesus heart, and have caused Angels to weep.

You who are honest, beg God to help you to make the right choices, believing that He will do that, and He will. Do you realize that you are being led by ungodly men, or have you been deceived?

TRUST GOD That’s how you started out, as it says in Galatians, who has bewitched you.

This started out to be a little encouragement to Edward , Judy and others, but…….

Friends, usually workers don’t have homes, sometimes no profession, they may have to get a job. Some without much family will need money, a place to live, etc. They may need our support. I urge you to reach out to them. Yes God will help them, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could be a part of that. An opportunity to glorify the God of heaven, showing that He lives in us, that there is indeed a loving God and we are His children.

    1. I do believe I am to blame for most of the silence, because of my post, that thankfully got removed by Wings! I had read the letter too quickly and misunderstood what Edward had written, and people did post…and thankfully all those comments were removed too!

There’s also getting to be so many posts coming (because there’s so much being sent in) that it’s hard to catch them all, which could be the case with this letter too.

We very much appreciate those who are not leaving God, but rather a ministry who is trying it’s best to make our church, “The Church of Predators, Perverts, and Rapists” because they won’t follow the scripture that says we are to PUT THEM OUT.

One thing I learned living in the east (where these overseers overseers are holed up), is the saying “it’s better to err on the side of mercy” – well, that’s a really ingorant and unscriptural saying, because Mercy isn’t Merciful at all, if TRUTH doesn’t accompany it. But, these men are so afraid of Dying (because they know what they have done and allowed) that they are afraid to do what is scriptural and be honest.

  5. Edward, just a note to wish you well for your continued healing and improvement in health.

I believe your care and advocacy here in the uk will never be forgotten.

You are one that will be found on the right side of history.

    Thankyou.

  6. Edward,

I am sorry you were not listened to or supported by the England overseer for your advocacy for CSA victims and subsequently ended up in BC. I am pleased to hear you’re doing well now with increasing work and improving health. If you are ever back over in England, you are always welcome.

    Best Wishes,

    Paul
