At WINGS, we are concerned with the ongoing lack of understanding of the dangers of allowing known or credibly alleged child sexual abusers to participate in intimate fellowship gatherings. Denying access to abusers from children is not an indictment of their relationship with God, it is simply a risk management tool.
We encourage any survivors who have strength to step forward, so workers could begin to understand the importance of protecting children from this person and any other perpetrators.

This is very sad to read this morning however not surprising. I am a victim/ survivor of Don Reynolds here in America. Even though the overseer’s/ GUIDES are supposed to have taken some on line class. It appears to me they really care about getting these predator’s back in meetings ASAP. There is no regard for the children I have a feeling as the FBI continues their investigation. The children’s safety will be addressed and we will see children removed from their parents home for the safety of the children. History will continue to repeat it’s self like in the states putting Luther Raine’s back in homes and being a worker again even though they are very aware of more than one credible allegation. So, thinking about the idea that no sin is unforgivable – except for blasphemy – and weighing up the need / desire for sex perverts from the faith to the opportunity for fellowship alongside the absolute requirement to protect children and survivors … what to do? If the ministry is so gung-ho on providing fellowship opportunities to sex offenders, then why doesn’t it spin off and support this type of organisation. Put the offenders there – rather than try and integrate them into the fellowship.
Downunder, if a person is a sexual predator and they sexually abuse someone in the “fellowship”, why are they given a second chance in the religion? That person made a decision to abuse people within the group, they are gone!
If the predator wants fellowship, they can go elsewhere. Why does the religion feel that they alone have a monopoly on God? They don’t. The church I attend now, after leaving meetings, has a very strict policy of no tolerance for any kind of sexual abuse.
This church is very ernest about following the teachings of Christ and it’s very refreshing not to be subjected to the whims of humans and their flawed and fickle decision making. Especially regarding sexual abuse!
@Downunder – there are sins that are unforgiveable. If the predators don’t take the necessary steps to correct this criminal behavior, there won’t be any forgiveness. Jesus said, Repent, confess, and ask for forgiveness regarding sin. When sin is coupled with Criminal behavior, then one must take care of things with the law first, then to show they have figured out that they don’t want to reoffend, they would willingly offer some sort of restitution. Whether it’s a weekly or monthly payment to an abuse clinic for survivors, or the Advocates For The Truth who help survivors find the help they need, or at least something that shows they are truly sorry.
@chull1103 – It’s not over…I was talking to someone today about the state she lives in…the male workers are all gone (including the overseer – who just disappeared). The one man who used to be the overseer has gone down dramatically in his health, and can now barely stand. If the ministry isn’t going to do the right thing…God will keep going. It’s time for things to change, so that we are bringing Joy to God’s heart and not fueling His anger!

Most all Workers can be likened to foxes guarding the hen house as far as CSA/SA goes, so not sure going to them about peds and pervs will do much good, but one can try.
I’m hoping and guessing BGM is referring to speaking with US Customs to be sure he can’t cross the border.
We have revised that section. Even with a federal pardon, a person is not allowed to cross the border unless obtaining a waiver from the US government. We don’t know if he has a waiver. If we hear that he does, we will revise back again.

@Junior Jones – Most = 40% of the predators being in this ministry (workers). 20% are elders (most of whom were in the work at some point). The other 40% makes up ALL the other categories.
Might be nice if you would stop trying to be an enabler to the predators (or even an indirect enabler) = those who take on the sin/crime of the predator themselves, and will need to get God’s forgiveness for doing so. Which means repentance, which means a complete turning from that wrongdoing, and never turning back to it again.

Can’t speak for Canada but in the States a pardon is not a finding of innocence and can be used as an admission of guilt when applying for jobs.
Same in Canada. A Federal Pardon is not a finding of innocence. It is a recognition of lawful behaviour subsequent to serving a sentence. It is not particularly relevant to how the fellowship should or should not allow attendance.
Canada has renamed pardons to “record suspensions,” and can be reversed. Sexual crimes against children have also been made ineligible more recently.

We remember Ernie, I’ve been wondering if he had stopped. Now, I know he hasn’t. His poor wife and children and siblings. It must be true, they just keep on and on. Our sympathies to them and his victims.
From some recent posts on here…I would say at least one of his children is acting as an enabler.
in our area we have zero tolerance for known predators. So this man would be excluded from our meeting. I have expressed concern with the church members that I would not always know who the “known” predator is if he is visiting the area and have asked that if anyone knows or has issues with others that they let me know so we can take proper action. All of the areas where I have relatives or well known friends have similar standards. Sorry there are areas that don’t follow what most of us call common sense.
Is this zero tolerance being implemented by the workers?
In our Sunday morning meeting, we are limiting visitors to those known and vouched for by regular attendees of our meeting. Because there is no system for checking across regions and we have many young children in our meeting. If people are not known to someone in the meeting, we give them the name of another meeting nearby that doesn’t mind unknown visitors.
This is crazy. Trying to find a place for a child predator while in NL, Canada, a women would be told to leave the meetings if she wore pants or didn’t wear her hair up.
They might soon have no women in the meeting then as there is a real change currently happening regarding “hair up”!
And not just in Newfoundland. In many areas of North America, it’s far worse to be divorced and remarried than to be a sex offender.
Many areas are more relaxed about hair up now but not all. In many areas of North America, people who are divorced and remarried are given more consequences than sex offenders.
@tdaize – Neither are okay, not because it’s an opinion, but because there’s scripture to not remarry (adultery) and there’s scripture to not sexually abuse anyone. There’s also a way to find repentance in both cases.
Adultery, to leave the situation that is considered Adultery and turn your heart again to the God of Heaven, and His commandment.
Sexual abuse, turn your self in, admit to the crime, admit to the victims, admit to what you did to each victim, plead guilty so you don’t cause further harm to the victims, accept the consequenses, accept all forms of help while incarcerated, upon release start your restoration process in honor of the victims. Then, after a few years of proving you are honestly changed, there could be an option for an adult men only meeting (but, no meetings where there would be children or women).
The unfortunate part is, there are people calling themselves “servants of God” and they are choosing to NOT follow the scripture. They need to be taken out, by the Elders banding together in each of your states or provinces.

I perceive however that there is some fruit on the tree that you are already putting on the discount rack.

People in the meeting asked that this predator of DOZENS of victims not attend. Yet, “workers” are still trying to find this predator a place where he can attend a meeting? Are workers so much in a bubble that they can’t see reality? Molesting over THIRTY people and this predator is still being granted privileges? Then the predator is still, just recently, harassing victims?
There is no help for this group when the leadership is woefully lacking in vision. Is it that the workers are incapable of making competent decisions, or are they simply ignorant? Or are the workers thinking that they have the ability and power to change anyone, with total disillusionment? What does it take to get excluded from meetings?

So, I have a question for you. I have been learning about predators and working with their victims since 2007. Has Ernie EVER turned himself in to law enforcement? I’m going out on a limb here, but my guess is “no”. How do I come to that conclusion? Because had he taken responsibility for his crimes, HE would NEVER be asking to come back in to ANY meeting. Not now, not ever. Prison isn’t the newest/coolest theme park…most people do not ever want a second tour.
For someone to be free for others to forgive them, they MUST:
One: Turn yourself in.
Two: Admit to your crimes.
Three: Admit to every person you have ever touched inappropriately, or molested, or raped.
Four: Admit to what you did to each of the victims.
Five: Admit you are wrong.
Six: Accept the consequences, and plead guilty to spare your victims any further hurt.
Seven: Accept the help offered while incarcerated.
Eight: Pay Restitution
Not ONE of these steps can be skipped, or there’s no room for forgiveness to come your way. If any one of these are not completed, the predator is saying, “I’m not sorry”. He’s still alive, it’s not too late. Go turn yourself it…then, start on number 2, all the way to number 8.
So, yes, we DO have a right to say “no, thank you, you don’t belong here, because you are still a threat to the safety of our vulerable”.

How can you come to the defense of a perpetrator that has already been convicted and imprisoned? Seeing I think I know who you are, you have children and grandchildren. If you desire to stop the CSA, you have to help the FBI do its job to classify the 2x2s as RICO Act operation. That means, you have to send the FBI everything you know about the financial dealings of the 2x2s. Every bequethment that was given to the ‘kingdom’, how it was handled, in who’s name was it placed, etc. Tell who was the 2×2 banker in your area, what they handled, what was their occupation, etc.
The FBI isn’t going to do much with the CSA cases because nearly all of them have zero forensic evidence. The FBI needs to know about the financial crimes. If the FBI is unable to get information from ex and current 2x2s about this, then the window will close and the FBI will never look at this issue again.
So, can the FBI start asking those questions as apart of their investigation of the CSA?
@Elaine S – please be careful what you state (as though it were fact) about the FBI. They want to hear from every victim, about every financial transaction, who was involved, if someone had workers come to their home asking for their assets (this mostly happens to the elderly who have recently lost a spouse, (or the most recent case I know about she’s become incapacitated and the two aren’t living together any more), and yes, the FBI knows about this case. If the workers have stuff stashed in your home, what’s in that stash/suitcases/boxes, etc. is anyone in the ministry on Medicaid, and if the ministry in your state has any fund for helping with medical or dental procedures? If you know something that’s wrong…tell the FBI. Then, let them sort out what cases go to the prosecutor, and what ones will go on to civil lawsuits, where the burden of proof isn’t nearly as high. Because we have predators with over 1000 victims!! Even if it started years ago…there’s other things they can use, besides sperm donations to prove wrong doing.
