As host of the Cassatt, SC Convention, we wish to inform you of guidelines pertaining to our 2023 Convention.
Please remember that we all are guests of the convention grounds owners throughout preparation and convention. This is a non – commercial event held on private property and is only open to invited guests. We want our behavior to be what it should be – appropriate, respectful, and safe. We are happy to voluntarily provide the location for Cassatt, SC convention to be held. We, however, are taking a zero-tolerance approach to any kind of behavior that is not appropriate. Any such allegations will be taken seriously and reported to proper authorities. We hope by adhering to these guidelines all will feel safe, welcome, and our time together will be profitable.
Convicted and alleged CSA and SA offenders are not invited. If anyone sees such a person, please inform the hosts of the convention. As far as we know, there have not been any incidents here of this kind.
Due to liability issues, there will be no sleeping dorms provided as has been the norm in past years. You may bring a RV/camper, tent, or stay off grounds at night. There are a limited number of camping sites with electric and water hookups for RV/campers. These will be made available to residents of South Carolina residing farther than a 50 mile radius from convention grounds. There will be additional spaces for fully contained RV/campers and tents with no hookups. There will be no RESERVING camper sites. They are available on a first come basis. PLEASE do not arrive with RV/campers and tents before Wednesday October 4th.
All minors must have a Parent or Parent-designated adult/guardian responsible for them at ALL times when on convention property. (BY LAW A MINOR IS ANY PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS)
We all must be concerned and invested with the safety of all present.

These guidelines state, “We, however, are taking a zero-tolerance approach to any kind of behavior that is not appropriate”. It will be interesting if those who have covered for sexual predators in the past will be allowed entry, as Craig Winquist wanted to have happen at Clever convention. IF someone that has covered for a sexual predator in the past, and an assault does take place at that convention property where the person is that covered up past crimes, lawyers for the victim(s) will have a field day with that in court even if the new sex crime has nothing to do with the worker that overlooked and covered up the first crime(s). It is all about the appearance of the culture of the church group gathering. At this point the church culture can readily be amplified in court with the lack policies towards sex crimes and the numerous incidents, over and over, that have been covered up. Allowing people (workers) who over looked past crimes, and were present on the same property where a new crime took place, is fertile ground for a major law suit. And, these law suits will come, it is just a matter of time. You, as convention owners are completely liable, personally and otherwise. I hope that you have very deep pockets!
Your comment came across to me as fearmongering. Hopefully it wasn’t meant that way. I should assume better of you.
Curious if you know of any convention ground owners who have been sued in the past for abuse that happened on their property?
Also curious if you have seen any estimate on how much of the abuse has happened at convention grounds. The advocates should have a pretty good idea with all their data, and it would be helpful if they would shed some light on this.
I’m guessing most convention ground owners carry a few million dollars worth of liability insurance, so it seems like they would only need pockets deep enough to pay the premium. But I suppose even if a lawsuit was settled by insurance, if headlines were made, there would still be a tarnished community reputation to restore.

Richard Harbur, Scott Porter and others workers cover up child sexual abuse in Ecuador for about 2 years since this was first known by all of them .
Child sexual abuse and sexual abuse occurs in many churches, especially in fundamentalist churches like the truth. Why is this? Is it perhaps because women and children are devalued compared to men? Perhaps it is because of the purity culture messages that objectifies women and portrays men as victims to visual lust and absolves them of responsibility? Or perhaps it is because they are majoring in the minors and are too concerned with unity and preserving the image of the group to care for the individual, especially for those who are marginalized?
In order to pull the weed up by the root, these questions to be answered. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if women’s biblical value could be preached at convention!
