Ex-worker Raises Questions About Australia / New Zealand Overseers’ Letter

Christchurch,

Sunday July 9.

Dear Wayne,

This morning I received a letter concerning CSA which had your name, among others, at the bottom.

I acknowledge that the letter is quite well-written in the main, but it also raises serious issues. Clearly, the letter is not written or sent out in good faith, as the signatories are well aware of a person currently in the Ministry who has not been – and so far, is not being – dealt with according to the stated protocols.

I refer to Craig Janke in QLD, who very clearly falls within the scope of people who should not be attending meetings and yet is being allowed to even remain in the Ministry.

Craig was in South Australia in your time there, and you were made aware of allegations against him relating to inappropriate behaviour towards children (in fact, it seems likely that you actually knew of this before he arrived in the state). It is a known fact that you privately acknowledged that you were satisfied that the allegations against him have substance (though in a meeting of church elders in the field where Craig had been you later downplayed it and gave the impression that there was nothing in the allegations). You arranged for him to be sent back to QLD because of these matters, and I understand you made the remark that you would not have him in the ministry in your state. On his return to QLD he eventually returned to a role in the ministry and has remained there until this time. It is beyond understanding how you have dared to produce a letter which claims that you will deal with CSA matters when you are allowing this person to retain a ministry role. This is dishonest and deceitful behaviour. You need to be aware that I have begun to share these facts with everybody who raises the issue of the letter to me, and I will continue to do so.

A further matter of concern relates to the conspicuous absence of Max Goldsack’s name from the bottom of the letter, which has served to focus a spotlight on him and has caused many questions to be raised. The comment most frequently made about this is that it is likely because your overseer group are aware (as you would be) of Max’s questionable record on moral matters, including his well-known homosexual relationships. Personally, it was with jaw-dropping disbelief that I heard he was to be appointed overseer of the state of West Australia – this was an open assault on the principles of the Bible, a betrayal of the ministry and the Church, and a death-blow to the credibility of the overseer group.

These concerns are not trivial, nor may they be ignored. Please take notice that this letter will be shared, by any means, with anybody who has an interest in these matters.

Yours sincerely,

Graham Thompson

  1. Thanks for sharing. We are all in this fight together and we must continue to post what we know and keep everyone informed.

  2. Thank you Graham for your honesty and courage. So many people know things that they are unwilling to acknowledge and/or share. There are too many people who will say that the fight is not theirs. The saying that often comes to my mind these days is “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.“

  3. Once again, Graham, I am encouraged by your honesty and willingness to state the facts openly. ANYONE who knows something (regarding CSA and SA) should say something (openly), period. To the degree that facts remain unspoken, is to the degree thatcwe will have more victims in the future.

    1. Off Not – you are absolutely correct, but this “know something – say something” does not mean one thing to most of group leadership. For example, in April 2023 the Montana head man, Scott Rauscher, wrote “Let’s support all victims by respectfully listening without blaming. We fully intend to support the needs of the victims in every way we can and encourage others to feel free to come forward and report concerns” (letter on Wings). Then we learn a couple of weeks ago on Wings that Rauscher and most of his staff in Montana squashed a horrible CSA case in their very own state. So much for what Rauscher wrote in April. Just hot air. Talk is cheap.

  4. Graham we all will be praying and are praying. God needs soldiers breath and true..
    Luke 10:19
Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.
    John10:28-30
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
    Psalm 140:4
Guard me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet.

  5. Thank you Graham for helping us in the battle to keep groomers out of positions of trust. You were right all along and you should have been listened to from the moment you began pointing out the csa issue. The work is worse off without you in it.

  6. This letter was posted on another public forum, (professing proboards). In terms of fairness, rightness/correctness… and also libel law the admin subsequently reacted names and some allegations and issued this statement:
“As far as I can glean, from all that has come before me and attempting to be factual (where possible) and fair, is the following:
    – Max’s name was left off the recent overseer’s letter to Australia & NZ, and it seems likely Max will no longer continue as overseer of WA.
    – there is absolutely no suggestion of any criminal behavior by Max.
    – nothing I have so far heard can substantiate any immoral conduct by Max that would preclude his role as worker.
I had never heard of Max until a few days ago, but on the basis of all I’ve so far heard and discovered, he sounds an interesting guy who one day I would like to meet for coffee (maybe an espresso martini 😀 ) and a long chat.”

    1. What a weird disrespectful comment. Gay people who have had homosexual relationships should NOT be Workers, let alone Overseers. Very interesting decision making.

  7. #Respect. What we will find now is many instances will surface compromising the Aus/NZ signatories and the stance they’ve written about. The signatories, of course, will be silent and not address the claims laid at their feet. I’ve found a more realistic approach is to read and listen to what is said, and assume the exact opposite is in fact the truth. Trust is lost.

  8. Graham Thompson, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing this. I have so often wondered how you are doing since writing and speaking about CSA. It took great courage, and I admire you tremendously for it.
I hope you are doing well, we need people like you to speak out against these horrors.
Do reach out if you are in need of anything or need a listening ear..

    1. Have you validated the accuracy?

If the person names has committed a crime why hasn’t he been reported to the police… yet again “taking it to the workers”.

      1. There are no allegations of crimes in that letter. “Inappropriate behaviour” and yes, the inappropriate behaviour is verified by many witnesses.

  9. Inappropriate behaviour verified by many witnesses should be enough to remove him from the work sine they hold themselves as Gods true servants. Duh 😳

  10. I have never been abused with anyone in the fellowship. But I can hardly take the lack of compassion for the victims. Young children mainly that will carry this forever.

I have had abuse in a relationship with a past husband. Emotional and physical and last but not least cheating. I would have had guns cocked and loaded put in my mouth. Ribs and teeth broke and so much physical pain and that bring emotional pain. But I can say after sometime I have been able to forgive this person. I pray he gets to be in Heaven and peace here and in the after life. TRULY But I would not trust being alone with this person if He would get in those rages again.

There is such a difference between forgiveness and forgetting. Not forgetting is a protection to watch this never happens to me again. So how are the victims to have this when they could be put back around the same person that hurt them before. Or (worse yet) to know that there is more of the same type people that could do it again. I am so disappointed in the cover-up.  Please from the bottom of my heart stop and think of the real problem here…………is protection for the wrong person.   Believe me I have done many things wrong in my life. Wrong, but there are differences to the damage you do to another.
