There is a current and ongoing effort to take ex worker Ira Hobbs to court to convict him of his 2019 rape of a sister worker. He used a date rape drug, while his ex-sister-worker wife was away from their house. The raped sister worker was staying in the home for special meeting rounds. The hospital found the date rape drug in her blood test. They repaired the life-threatening damage that Ira did to her from the rape. It is known by many that Ira has raped and had sex with sister workers and wives for the past 60 years, as well as documented horrible molestation of children.
Ira Hobbs molested my young daughter in our home. My daughter and I have agreed to testify against him. The advocate, investigator and prosecutor are gathering evidence for prosecution. More victims, and those with knowledge of these crimes, would be very valuable as they establish the case, and show his long practice of so horribly damaging so many.

Ira practiced this horror for much of his lifetime, and was hidden, protected, and moved from place to place repeatedly by the senior overseers while in the ministry. Fortunately he was finally put out of the work after his life time of fornication and child molestation. He was very clever on how to enjoy his horrid fornication without leaving evidence that could convict him. That is why it important to gather more evidence, victims and witnesses to firmly establish his decades long pattern of fornication, rape and child molestation. IF….if… what Dale is saying about a “rape” that supposedly occurred only 4 years ago is true… all they need is the evidence from the hospital…blood test… and the alleged victims testimony. So why are there not already formal charges on record??

Jim, the incident described in Dale’s letter is known and acknowledged to have occurred, by friends and workers in the area where it occurred. There is no question it happened. As you say, formal charges require certain things, including in many jurisdictions victim/witness testimony or at least cooperation.
If Dale and others can progress this case, they will certainly have the backing of many of us who agree that abusers, and those who cover for them, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is important both to get a measure of justice for survivors, and to prevent and deter further harm from being done by this abuser and others.

The very first and most important due process for God’s people can be found in Matthew 18 regarding those who trespass.

I’m sorry Jim you’re sorely lacking in knowledge. 1) the victim was drugged by a highly illegal substance only obtained from the black market. It was proven in a hair test. The drug has an amnesiac affect on who ingests it, therefore there is no “testimony’ only the before and the after affects. Because this drug worked well in blotting out her memory.
2) having no memory of a violation and just being in a horrific physical state afterwards would be a very confusing state to be in! Trying to sort out what is wrong with yourself and what could have happened would be overwhelming compounded by being on special mtg rounds which is quite a hectic schedule.
3) what purpose do you serve with your loose lips in this situation?! Ira is infamous amongst the ministry and friends for being a serial sexual predator. @jim I am not sure who you are. But are you aware that Ira’s victims are scattered all around the country? So many lives destroyed by his wickedness. Many people have said they were persuaded not to press charges. And this sister from 2019 may have been too distressed or scared to press charges.

1) He expresses no sympathy for the hundreds (maybe thousands) of victims in his religion.
2) He minimizes, belittles, casts doubt, and accuses those brave enough to come forward of dishonesty.
3) He uses the intimidation tactics like ‘God will punish you if you question this ministry’ (paraphrasing).
4) He makes ridiculous statements like (again paraphrasing) ‘MILLIONS of children have been forced into marriage in the world. I know we all feel a deep sorrow for the many victims of this man. I also want to have a true compassion on those who were closest to him throughout his life who never knew or even suspected the other vile nature that has come to light. They were not sleeping, they were not condoning his vile nature, they simply did not experience anything like it in their interactions with him. We had a young man stay for lunch yesterday. Since I cannot ever really remember meeting Ira I asked him if he had. He said sure when we were growing up in Colorado, Ira was in our home lots of times. (I might add he had 3 younger sisters). He said we always enjoyed him and valued him. He went on to remind me his one sister lived in Oregon and Montana and that she had Dean Bruer in her home and he had been with him several times and really valued him. Of course he is now shocked with all that has come out on both men. I hope we all feel for so many who have only known one side of these men’s lives and were completely blinded about their vile natures. I can imagine that it would take some time to come to really understand the situation. I can’t imagine the devastation his closest family must feel.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. You can request a police report. It’s highly redacted but an apparent DUI. Also, Carl sold and manufactured drugs, including cocaine prior to entering work in Wilmington. News article can be found online.

The dui was in 2019 not prior to him being in the work. Request a background check and/or police report from myrtle beach. The report may be on Facebook so you don’t have to pay for it.
A Google search shows a Carl Leroy Nelson, a father in North Dakota with a 2019 DUI. Not the Carl Nelson I know. Please be careful with your questions.
I have an idea how IH’s family might feel. I am LW’s niece and it is like being gut punched to hear or read the disgust someone feels towards him. Well deserved, but having adored him nearly all my life it is hard to hear/read. I am horrified and saddened by his behavior, and heart broken for his victims. That being said, men like my uncle and IH should not have been allowed to continue in their depravity.
I am curious, I heard an observation that LW had a severe stroke or heart attack shortly after going to Colorado. They thought he would die, but he did recover. Was most of his strange uninhibited behavior after that episode? I have heard that those afflicted with frontal lobe dementia, a genetic disease go through progressive stages where loss of not speaking what we normally would not is lost. Not sure if a stroke could do the same thing?
Hope that anyone that was told about this crime is also brought to court to testify and is convicted of aiding and abetting!
